Wicked family experiences in the Wildkogel Arena
Apartments Cilli
The Wildkogel Arena Neukirchen & Bramberg “drives in”. Not only on the slide path or the mountain cart track. With the Nationalpark Sommercard Mobil, one ascent and descent with the Wildkogel cable cars is included every day. Families who are “wild” for new mountain experiences are best to take the Bergbahnen Wildkogel. They have recently been named one of the “Best Austrian Summer Mountain Railways” and have been recognized as a mountain specialist for families with their new offers. You can see this right next to the mountain station of the Wildkogelbahn in Neukirchen.
Here the adventure arena Kogel-Mogel provides high spirits, a huge wooden playground with eagle’s nest, ball track or Goliath swing. On the giant trampoline are performed true aerial jumps. The next adventure already beckons: the Panorama Trail, which leads from the top station (2,091 m) to the middle station (1,644 m). The slide path starts there with ten stainless steel slides between 22 and 53 meters long – including a slide with a “free fall and wow effect”. From the end point at Gasthof Stockenbaum, you can reach the valley to Neukirchen in about 45 minutes along a pleasant hiking trail. Fun on three wheels opens the mountain cart track.
Up it goes “direttissima” with the Smaragdbahn in Bramberg, down over four winding kilometers with all-terrain, three-wheeled carts – great fun that screams for repetition. The Nationalpark Sommercard Mobil includes a daily ascent and descent with one of the two cable cars to the Wildkogel. As well as tickets for the regional public transport and for many excursion destinations – including the Krimmler Waterfalls, the WasserWelten, the Museum Bramberg, the National Park Center and the Grossglockner High Alpine Road. The “BB-Wildkogel” app is the free companion of Bergbahnen Wildkogel with live information about the open lifts and attractions in the Wildkogel Arena.
Archery and slope flying
The 3D archery course at Alpengasthof Stockenbaum at an altitude of 1,200 meters in Neukirchen was newly built. Those who have “got the hang of it” after the 28 stations can relax in between at the “Panorama Stall” refreshment station (rental equipment and training on request). From here, it is also not far to the slope flying runway, where thermals inspire model airplane pilots. Another take-off and landing possibility for gliders, wings, helicopters and parkflyers is located next to the Gasthof Friedburg. Flying only allowed with registration, valid flight license or insurance.
Hiking and biking with a far-reaching view in the Wildkogel Arena
On the Wildkogel Arena website, families make the best vacation plans even before their vacation. You can be taken on guided tours by certified hiking and mountain guides. Buggies, child carriers and mountain boots are available to borrow free of charge – and off you go: to the greatest water treasures of the Hohe Tauern National Park or for healing “forest bathing” or into the Habachtal, the valley with the unique emerald deposit in Europe. Very tasty are the “culinary hut roas” or the cheese tasting at the Baumgartenalm in the Mühlbachtal. All this is topped only by the fantastic view of the mountain world with Großer Geiger and Großvenediger – at 3,657 m the highest in Salzburg, which come even closer into view during hikes in the National Park and Sonnseit valleys. With 800 kilometers of MTB trails, the Hohe Tauern National Park vacation region gets everyone on their bikes. In the high-altitude hiking area Wildkogel and in the Tauern valleys there are wonderful e-bike and biker routes, which can also be experienced combined as “Bike & Hike”.
“Meet a Ranger” in the National Park Valleys
With National Park Rangers and certified mountain guides, adventurers penetrate even deeper into the National Park valleys and further to the peaks of the Hohe Tauern. An exciting lesson in alpine geology and the history of the national park opens, for example, the “Journey to the Tauern Window – Hochfeld Show Mine” with a national park ranger. Under the motto “Meet a Ranger” there are three-thousand-meter tours for experienced mountain hikers on the Larmkogel (3,017 m) or on the Bettlersteig, which connects the two Sulzbach valleys, on certain dates.
The Wildkogel children’s summer is exciting and inspires
Children of the same age experience games, sports and adventure with the two mascots Kogel-Mogel and Kogel-Mia. During the “cool” afternoon at the organic farm, a tour of the stables, pony rides, making hay hearts and churning butter are on the program. The children try out for themselves how a key ring is made from wool, water and soap during felting at the Salzburg Wollstadel. Behind the kids’ adventure at Blausee is a barbecue with lots of fun ideas.
Wildkogel festivals for young and old
In the Wildkogel Arena Neukirchen & Bramberg there is a festive atmosphere throughout the summer. A first highlight is the Bramberg village festival, during which the entire village center is transformed into a large fairground. The local clubs put on an attractive program with entertaining games and great live music. The traditional three-day Laurenzifest in Bramberg always strikes new notes. By the way, there are square concerts of the traditional music bands in Neukirchen and Bramberg throughout the summer (beginning of July to mid-September). With the Salzburger Bauernherbst, customs and folk culture throughout the state are heading for their climax. This year’s motto “Von Wurzeln und Wipfeln” (Of Roots and Tre etops) puts traditions, craftsmanship and a deep connection to nature at the center of numerous farmers’ autumn festivals, craft and village markets. Tip for gourmets: The weekly market at the Samplhaus in Bramberg with fresh and regional products (end of June – beginning of September).
